Artificial (Live) at Bar Rochford 1/3/2026

$20.00

Now look what they’ve gone and done, to make reality of imagination

Church and Rochford are back once again to break in Autumn with an analog live set from a true icon of the so-called-Australian Underground, Artificial (formally known as Nicole Sketlys). A chance meeting with Kate Crawford at an early 90’s Canberra doof spawned pioneering electro-femme duo B(if)tek - the first Canberra electronic music project to receive features on ABC’s Rage, SBS’ Alchemy and Channel V (RIP), along with daily plays on Triple J. Nicole and Kate were active members of the Canberra chapter of Clan Analogue and went on to tour with the Beastie Boys, dialed in Twin Peaks’ own Julee Cruise for vocals on a track and received an Aria nomination—suffice to say their influence on antipodean dance music is still being felt to this day. As Artificial, Nicole continued to release solo music, self described as somewhere between hillbilly house and fizzy lo-fi electro-lounge.

To warm up the floor, we’ve entrusted the mainstays of proceeding generations of Canberra dance music royalty: Mia Sørlie and SKUNKS
